Demystifying AI – Opportunities & Limitations

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly sophisticated and advanced. Models such as ChatGPT can write essays and speeches and also solve programming problems, which raises questions about the future of many professions and societal development as a whole. Products based on generative AI are today so integrated into society that it is difficult to imagine not using AI. But how does AI actually work, and why has it become so good in such a short time?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly sophisticated and advanced. Models such as ChatGPT can write essays and speeches and also solve programming problems, which raises questions about the future of many professions and societal development as a whole. Products based on generative AI are today so integrated into society that it is difficult to imagine not using AI. But how does AI actually work, and why has it become so good in such a short time?

In this program, we focus on demystifying AI. We start from the theories behind AI and how the latest developments are related to these. Participants get to try using AI to write speeches and analyze images, and also gain knowledge of how the technology solves that type of task. We also discuss how AI can be used in the participants’ own organizations, with a focus on increasing productivity without risking AI generating incorrect or misleading information.

The program provides insights into the possibilities and limitations of AI technology, and how it can be used to improve the organization’s own operations, products, and conditions. Our journey goes through classical AI where humans are in control, via language models that generate text, to solutions such as ChatGPT that are integrated with tools in order to provide more precise answers when we need them. As a participant, you will gain an understanding of how you can start using AI and how you can develop business opportunities based on AI.

Lecturer: Professor Miroslaw Staron

Professor of Software Engineering at the University of Gothenburg IT faculty. His research focuses on software development within automotive applications, software effectiveness, data warehouses and profiling of the performance of products and organizations. In the recent years, Prof. Staron has been working on using AI to improve software engineering activities (testing, code review, programming) and utilizing AI in medicine.

Target group:
Decision makers who want to understand the opportunities and limitations of the AI technology in their own organizations, to improve their work, products and environments.
