Business models are changing faster than ever. Customer needs are shifting, technology is accelerating, and competition often comes from entirely new directions. To succeed, it takes more than optimizing what already exists, it requires the ability to challenge, reshape, and renew the logic that creates value for customers and the organization.
In this two-day programme, researchers Björn Wikhamn and Jonas Fasth guide you through a structured and research-based process for business model innovation.
The programme builds on current research from the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, along with proven methods within business model, ready to be tested in your organization.
Why this program?
Björn Wikhamn is a Professor of Management and Organization at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. His research focuses on innovation, HRM, and strategic renewal, with a particular interest in how organizations can develop in an increasingly volatile and complex world. A central theme in his work is open innovation – how companies collaborate with external actors to create new value while navigating digitalization, sustainability requirements, and other external pressures for change.
Björn has extensive experience collaborating with companies and innovation environments across both industrial and knowledge-intensive sectors. He is also involved in several interactive research and development initiatives that bring together universities, industry, and the public sector. In addition, Björn serves as the academic director of Matix – Management of Growth, a master’s program at the School of Business that combines academic study with strategic work in growth-oriented companies and innovation-driven organizations.
As a lecturer, advisor, and facilitator, he challenges conventional ways of thinking and connects theoretical knowledge with practical action. The combination of research-based perspectives and hands-on experience from industry collaboration positions him as a bridge between academic analysis and everyday organizational decision-making. His work is characterized by clarity, concreteness, and forward-looking insight, providing leaders with tools to navigate a world shaped by uncertainty, complexity, and change.
Björn’s latest book, The Paradox Society, gathers his research-based insights on how companies can interpret and leverage contemporary contradictions as a driver of development. The book is aimed at managers and decision-makers who want to strengthen their ability to navigate an era of parallel demands and conflicting expectations.
Jonas Fasth is a researcher and senior lecturer in business administration at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. His research is mainly about how leaders involve employees and external actors in strategic work, how companies handle crisis situations, and leadership challenges. Jonas also has experience from working in group management and boards in knowledge-based organizations. The assignments have primarily consisted of developing the working methods and competence of businesses regarding strategy and change management. He is also a consultant with a focus on growth and strategic processes in companies.
Based on both research and over 25 years of experience as a consultant, he has published five books within the fields of growth and strategy work.
With experience from business and academia, Jonas’ competence is both theoretical and concrete, which enables him to create a rewarding link between academia and business.
