Generative AI in Practice

– create tools that work for you

It’s often said that generative AI won’t take our jobs, but people who master generative AI will. This programme is designed for those who want to master generative AI and become the employees, specialists, and managers of the future. You’ll gain an understanding of how generative AI works, learn to develop effective prompts, and create your own agent based on ChatGPT.

Generative AI is becoming increasingly important in our society. While ChatGPT is perhaps the most well-known example, generative AI is already a part of our daily lives. It is built into our smartphones, office software, and even TVs to interpret language in real time. It is often said that generative AI won’t replace people, but those who can use it effectively will replace those who can’t. This programme is for those who want to master generative AI and become the employees, specialists, and managers of the future.

The programme offers practical knowledge on how to best apply generative AI in your work. The focus is on crafting powerful prompts and developing your own GPTs — agents that can summarise, interpret documents, and retrieve relevant information. Over two half-day sessions, we’ll explore the theory behind generative AI, prompting strategies, and the development of agents that can be shared within your organisation.

The first half-day concludes with a discussion on the ethical and legal considerations of using generative AI in professional settings.

Course objectives:
To understand how generative AI works, to learn how to develop prompts that reduce the risk of misunderstanding, and to be able to build your own ChatGPT-based agent (a so-called “custom GPT”). We begin with theory to establish the fundamentals, then devote the majority of the course to practical application, building your own GPT.

Lecturer: Professor Miroslaw Staron

Professor of Software Engineering at the University of Gothenburg, Faculty of Science and Technology. His research focuses on software development within automotive applications, software effectiveness, data warehouses and profiling of the performance of products and organizations. In recent years, Prof. Staron has been working on using AI to improve software engineering activities (testing, code review, programming) and utilizing AI in healthcare.

Target group:
Anyone who wants to master generative AI and become a future-ready employee, specialist, or manager. .

NB: The programme is delivered in Swedish.
