We are pleased to invite our Executive MBA alumni and participants to an alumni gathering at the School of Business, Economics and Law, Vasagatan 1, Thursday October 17, 16:45-19:30, in room E44.
The event will comprise of a short brief on executive education at the School, a stimulating academic lecture on an exciting topic, complemented by an external presentation. The event will wrap up with a mingle session with complementary finger food and beverages.

Welcome and update on new open-enrolment programmes from GU School of Executive Education (GUSEE)
Professor Thomas Sterner of the Department of Economics will give a presentation on the topic: <i>”Why is climate change, or why should it be, an important topic for business?”</i> During the lecture, he will discuss climate change and sustainability and what implications these have for companies, in Sweden and worldwide. He will share with us findings from his own research and from research internationally.
Mr. Jack Villanueva of AMBA in London will present the many benefits of the AMBA Individual Membership, available free of charge to you as a current participant or alumnus/alumna from our AMBA-accredited school (with Executive MBA graduation year 2010 and onwards). Jack will share with us how alumni from other business schools have leveraged their individual memberships to stay updated and to advance their careers.

Biography – Thomas Sterner
Thomas Sterner is professor of environmental economics. During the last two decades he has built up the Environmental Economics Unit at the University of Gothenburg, with a staff of several PhDs and a dozen graduate students. His main areas of work is on discounting and on instrument design for climate and environmental policy.
Within the latter subject applications range from general climate issues to more specific issues. In short anything related to circular economy, sustainability or economics of the Anthropocene, the current era of significant human impact on Earth’s geology and ecosystems. Thomas Sterner is also a frequent guest columnist in the morning newspaper Göteborgs-Posten. His personal web page is found here.
